法国教育部于2017年1月31日宣布一系列教学新措施，以提高中小学生在数学和自然科学方面的学习成绩。其中，还与法国国际象棋联合会签署协议，让国际象棋这种有助于提高逻辑推理能力的游戏走进校园。

The French Minister of Education announced a series of policies to improve students’ grades in math and science. In addition, the Ministry of Education and the French Chess Federation will sign a contract to encourage schools to teach students chess in order to advance logic and reasoning. 

科学研究表明孩子在两岁时，大脑就已经占到成人大脑的四分之三了。三岁的时候小脑发育基本成熟，四岁时神经髓鞘化基本完成，等到了五岁，孩子的大脑发育就和成人的大脑容量相差无几了。

孩子的学习、记忆、动作控制和其他各项大脑功能相关的脑部结构都已经成长。所以这段时间是大脑发育的［黄金时期］。

普遍认为有三样东西是训练人脑思维最有效的工具：数学、音乐以及国际象棋。其中国际象棋又有其他项目无可比拟的优势。

的确，国际象棋真是变化无穷，有着神奇的魅力。一个精妙的对局能够激动人记，就像一首好诗一样，但它又是两个具有个性的人之间的搏斗。这种搏斗需要运用智能和想象力，需要毅力和顽强的意志。下棋是一个不断变化的动态过程，因为每局棋都是崭新的，这就要求棋手在棋局战斗中具有理性的思辨能力与感性的创造力。

Chess is a tactical game that offers infinite ways of thinking and has been played since the 6th Century. A match between two skilled players is like a well written poem, illustrating the charm, beauty and cohesion of the game. It also shows intense expertise, willpower and imagination of the players. No two chess games are the same. Each match tells a story of how the players interact, the strategies they use, and the thought process they go through.

下棋不是对弈者简单地将棋子摆放到某个位置便实现预定目标，而是一场贯穿全局的较量。

Children are taught to think first, then act. We teach them to ask themselves “If I do this, what might happen then, and how can I respond?” Over time, chess helps develop patience and thoughtfulness.
